The Site

We worked for Dem-Master Demolition on the Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) high-rise tower demolition contract in Toryglen, south Glasgow.

This project was the removal of all internal fixtures and fittings, the removal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) and the demolition of two 21-storey residential tower blocks via progressive fragmentation using a super-high-reach demolition rig from a safe working distance.

The buildings are two former residential buildings; 99 Prospecthill Circus was approximately 30 meters long x 20 meters wide and 24-storey high, and 111 Prospecthill Circus; was approximately 50 meters long x 17 meters wide and 22-storey high.

The buildings were constructed of concrete outer walls and panels with a mixture of concrete block/brick inner walls and some timber studs and plasterboard inner walls.

Our Scope

We were appointed as the demolition consultants for the project.

Our roles reviewing the Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) for the project before the demolition works began.

Throughout the works, we carried out monthly audits, which were planned to coincide with the specific phases of the project, which included CDM compliance audits and process-specific demolition audits.

What we did
  • Carry out the pre-start CDM site audit and issue a report.
  • Carry out the demolition process site audit and issue a report.
