The Site

Working for the demolition contractor Technical Demolition Services on the demolition of three dockside cranes by explosives event demolition in Inchgreen Dock, Greenock

This project involved the preparation and demolition of the redundant cranes.

Our Scope

We were appointed as the demolition consultants for the final demolition event of the project, which included checking and reviewing the Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) for the demolition event.

We were involved with the liaison with the demolition contractor, the explosives engineer, the police for the road closure and the helicopter, and the coast guard, aiding the decanting of the residents, securing the exclusion zone, and overall monitoring of the demolition event.

We carried out pre and post-demolition audits to ensure the site was ready for the demolition event, and to check the site was made safe once the structures were at rest.

What we did
  • Review and approve the Risk Assessments and Method Statement and issue a report.
  • Carry out a pre-demolition site audit and issue a report.
  • Carry out the perimeter checks during the demolition event.
  • Give input on the blowdown event exclusion zone.
  • Carry out the final disconnections inspections before the explosives event.
  • Carry out a post-demolition site audit and issue a report.
