This guidance publication is for anyone who has duties under the Gas Safety (Management) Regulations 1996 (as amended). For example:

  • gas conveyors
  • emergency reporting service providers
  • gas shippers
  • terminal operators

It provides advice and explains regulatory requirements, including changes made under the Gas Safety (Management) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 which came into force on 6 April 2023.

Details
This guidance publication will help you understand the compliance requirements including:

  • what information is required by HSE for acceptance of a safety case
  • how other dutyholders should co-operate with those preparing safety cases

The main changes from the previous edition are:

  • updated descriptions of the start and end of the gas network, including an updated visual depiction of the gas network
  • a description of the status of gas interconnectors and their function on the gas network
  • an explanation of when gas that does not comply with gas specifications may be conveyed through the network

There is also guidance on the arrangements for the gas emergency telephone service, including how the:

  • service should interact and co-operate with gas networks and other dutyholders
  • dutyholder can comply with the new requirement to have a safety case, including guidance on interpretation of the particulars that must be included within the safety case
