Course Description

This course qualifies individuals in the demolition of non-load bearing structures and the removal of fixtures and fittings, providing the operative has the appropriate tools/skills training in the equipment required to undertake the task. The Demolition Refurbishment Operative will also be qualified to use mechanical hand tools.

Demolition Refurbishment Operatives may take additional training to be qualified in Working At Height or Safe Oxygen/Fuel Cutting. These skills do not form part of this qualification but may be taken as additional skills training.

The CCDO Demolition & Refurbishment Red card is initially valid for 3 years to enable a period of getting the knowledge obtained put into practice. During this 3-year window, they must complete the NVQ Level 2 in Demolition Operations.

Duties

  • The demolition of non-load bearing structures.
  • The removal of fixtures, fittings, and fully isolated M&E.
  • Using mechanical hand tools and will carry out additional
  • skills training such as working at height where required.
  • Segregate materials for recycling.

Q: Do I need any experience to obtain this card?
A: Yes, you must have held a Demolition Labourer card and/or have 2 years Demolition Industry experience.

Q: Do I need anything prior to attending this course?
A: Yes. You need to hold a current Demolition Specialist or above or a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Touchscreen Test Pass. You also must hold a current Asbestos Awareness Certificate (as a minimum). Other higher level Asbestos Training will be accepted. You can only obtain your Asbestos Awareness Certificate through NDTG, UKATA, ARCA, or ACAD. E-Learning Certificates are not accepted.

Q: Do I get a certificate or card for completing this course?
A: Yes, the CCDO Demolition and Refurbishment card valid for 3 years. This card is non renewable. You must complete an NVQ level 2 within 3 years to convert your red Demolition & Refurbishment Operative Card to the blue Demolition & Refurbishment Operative Card.

Q: What do I need do to acheieve my NVQ?
A: You must complete a Level 2 Demolition Operative NVQ. Once you have obtained this, you can upgrade to a CCDO Demolition & Refurbishment Operative Card blue card, which is valid for 5 years and is renewable.

Q: Is this a certified course?
A: Yes. PERSES are certified to deliver on behalf of the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG).
