CDM Principal Designer

CDM Principal Designer

Perses CDM provides Principal Designer services under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 for construction, demolition, refurbishment and decommissioning projects.

Working closely with the clients, designers and principal contractors, we plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase. Our involvement helps ensure that foreseeable risks are identified early, design decisions are properly coordinated, and suitable arrangements are established before work begins.

Our services include:

  • supporting the client in establishing effective CDM arrangements;
  • coordinating designers and design-risk management;
  • reviewing and developing pre-construction information;
  • facilitating design-risk meetings and workshops;
  • reviewing the competence and organisational capability of project participants;
  • liaising with the principal contractor during the construction phase;
  • developing and maintaining the health and safety file; and
  • providing an auditable record of CDM activities and decisions.

Under CDM 2015, the Principal Designer is appointed by the client to lead the planning, management, monitoring and coordination of health and safety during the pre-construction phase on projects involving, or likely to involve, more than one contractor.
